The Play Group Theatre offers live theatre, classes, rehearsals, shows, camps, and Summer Theatre and Summer Performing Arts Programs, along with Fall-Spring and Spring programs. The program includes productions such as “In Wonderland” and “SpongeBob,” which are presented on PGT stages. Shows are selected after auditions so that kids come first and then the shows, and the program has a tradition of announcing show titles at callbacks and does not double cast roles.

The Play Group Theatre’s mission is “Preparing Kids for Every Stage in Life SM” and it describes itself as Westchester's Theatre for Children and Teens. The organization states that each class and rehearsal is an authentic arts experience that prepares participants to be creative, innovative, and compassionate artists and human beings, and that its work draws on a love of the craft and the life lessons that result from a rigorous and non-competitive creative process. The Play Group Theatre has been honored for excellence in arts education and has been voted Best of Westchester's Best Local Theater Group, Best Children's Theater, Best After School Program, and Best Place to Take the Kids. It is a grantee of ArtsWestchester with funding made possible by Westchester County government with the support of County Executive Kenneth W. Jenkins and the Board of Legislators.
