Students take part in a non-competitive creative process that includes a tradition of announcing show titles at callbacks, with shows chosen to fit the actors and a policy of never double casting.

• Ages: 5–18 years old

The Play Group Theatre is led by Artistic Director Jill Abusch and operates as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Its mission statement is “Preparing Kids for Every Stage in Life SM.” The program emphasizes understanding the thinking process behind the work, focuses on tangible skills and creative freedom to access imagination and define artistic voice, and maintains a rigorous and joyous work environment that balances the seriousness of art with the fun of childhood. It describes itself as a community of artists with a focus on convergent and divergent thinking, embracing failure as part of the creative process, creating community and cultivating diversity, and practicing empathy.

The Play Group Theatre has been honored for excellence in arts education and has been voted Best of Westchester's Best Local Theater Group, Best Children's Theater, Best After School Program, and Best Place to Take the Kids. It offers Summer Theatre camps and uses the PGT Stage and PGT Stages, with its facility also available for rentals. The Play Group Theatre is proud to be a grantee of ArtsWestchester with funding made possible by Westchester County government with the support of County Executive Kenneth W. Jenkins and the Board of Legislators.
