About
Granville Recreation District Programs include Summer Driver’s Ed, Tackle Football Cheerleading for grades 3–6, and an All Sports camp powered by Bally Sports Group. The programs also offer a Fine Arts Camp, a Photography camp, and Adventureland camp, along with youth sport coaching in baseball, basketball, and flag football. In addition, there is a Beginner Friendly Walk, Jog, Run Program for Adults and a Driver’s Education program with a classroom portion open to residents and non-residents.

The Granville Recreation District’s mission is to develop, manage, and coordinate recreational, educational, social, cultural, and athletic activities and facilities for citizens of all ages within the Granville Recreation District in an efficient, effective, and sustainable manner. The Granville Recreation District serves a community of over 14,000 in partnership with the Village of Granville, Granville Township, and the Granville Exempted School District. Since joining the Granville Recreation District, the leadership team has constructed an award winning public recreation department, providing comprehensive public recreation services for Granville and the surrounding communities.
The leadership team includes Executive Director Andy Wildman, Program Director Juli Pintz, Youth Sports Director Cory Becher, Marketing & Drive Academy Director Lara Benschoter, Operations Director Bobby Vahalik, maintenance staff members Kenneth Gantt and TJ Hayes, and Board of Trustees Chairperson and Village of Granville Trustee Greg Lott. Andy was appointed Executive Director in May 2010, and Juli joined as a Youth Sports & Program Coordinator in April 2017 before becoming Program Director in June 2022. Lara was hired in 2011 to help with marketing needs and became a full-time employee in September 2021, the first set of students began learning to drive in January 2021, Kenneth became a full-time staff member in 2021, TJ became a full-time staff member in 2025, and Greg was appointed Village of Granville Trustee and Chairperson in February 2021.
Staff credentials include Andy’s Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation Administration from Ohio University and Juli’s recreation degrees from The Ohio State University and Ohio University. Cory holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Toledo, a master’s degree from Stephen F. Austin State University, and is finishing a PhD at The Ohio State University. Lara has a BFA in Graphic Design from Bowling Green State University, is a Driver Training Instructor with the State of Ohio, and holds a Driver Education Training Manager license in the State of Ohio as of October 2025, and Greg holds a Ph.D. in Sport Management from The Ohio State University.
The Granville Recreation District Board of Trustees is a five member board, with each member serving a 3-year term, and the board includes three appointed members and two at-large members, with appointing agencies including Granville Village, Granville Exempted School District, and Granville Township. Community involvement includes Andy’s service as President of the Granville Rotary Club and President of the Granville Arts’ Boosters, Lara’s residence in the Granville School District and service as President of The Federated Clubs of Granville since 2008 and on the Granville Turkey Trot Committee since 2012, and Bobby’s volunteer coaching for baseball, football, and basketball since relocating to the community in 2006. Cory is noted as the 2021 and 2025 Granville Recreation District 4th of July “World Famous” Egg Toss Champion with his cousin Jimmy Hoben.
Fine Arts Camp includes a field trip to Weathervane Playhouse on Friday, and Photography camp focuses on helping kids see the world differently and capture it beautifully. Testimonials from parents of 2020 Adventureland campers include comments that Granville Recreation District camps “really delivered the engagement and autonomy” their boys were craving and that attending Adventureland in 2020 “gave my kids a sense of normalcy and extended their socialization beyond our small core group of friends/family.”
