About
Weathervane Musical Theatre Company is a pre-professional musical theatre training program where students work on dance, acting, voice, and musical theatre technique. The program includes masterclasses with industry professionals, audition material and cuts, mastering a callback, TV/Film/Commercial technique and marketing, professional rehearsal etiquette and Equity rules, building a musical theatre “book” and repertoire, dance call technique, and contemporary and classical monologue repertoire. WMTC takes place on Saturday afternoons.

The Weathervane Musical Theatre Company follows a conservatory model with initial auditions for admittance, and students are assigned to a leveled group. The program focuses on preparing students for college auditions and the professional theatre world. WMTC Founder/Director Kathleen Rooney Faubel graduated from the Musical Theatre Program at Baldwin Wallace University and is a member of SAG/AFTRA and Actors Equity Association, and she also serves as Director of Education at Weathervane Playhouse. Music Director Ron Hazelett holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Piano Performance from Kent State University and a Master’s Degree in Vocal Performance from Marshall University. Company Team member Valeria Flores is pursuing a Bachelor of Music in Music Theatre at Baldwin Wallace University. Company Team member Alan Pickett studied dance at the University of Akron and at The Ailey School. Company Team member Jarid Faubel is a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University. Company Team member John Ebner worked as a music teacher for 33 years and won an Addy Award along with the Weathervane cast of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, a YACTA Marquee Award for musical directing Weathervane’s Ragtime, and 8 Chanticleer Awards. Weathervane Playhouse collaborates with schools in Stark and Summit Counties.
