About

ZooCamp includes touring the zoo, meeting zoo staff and animal keepers, making fun crafts, and taking part in other activities described as awesome activities. Campers have up-close animal encounters, including meeting education animals up-close and meeting some of the zoo's education animal ambassadors. Campers may get to touch a mammal or a reptile, but will not hold or play with the animals.

• Ages: 3–16 years old
• Schedule: Before care is available by sign-up from 8–9 a.m. for full-day camps only.

Camp classes are taught by zoo staff. All programs go outside daily and are held rain or shine. Group size is capped at 22 campers, and each camper receives their own supply kit, with shared supplies limited to items that can be easily disinfected. There is a sign-in and sign-out procedure so staff know which children are arriving and leaving with which adult. Before-Camp Care is only available for Summer ZooCamps, and drop off and pickup are carpool style from the vehicle, with no parents coming into the building. The zoo reserves the right to cancel any camp with insufficient registrations and will issue a full refund in that case. Registrations can only be done online at this time, and payments through the mail can be made by check or by credit card using Visa, Discover, or MasterCard.

Each camper is encouraged to bring a reusable water bottle and a snack, and all campers are required to bring a packed lunch. Children must wear comfortable play clothes and shoes, and flip flops are not allowed. If pictures are desired, the camper must use their own camera, preferably a disposable one. Campers may bring phones, iPads, Nintendo DS, or similar devices, but if these are a distraction they will be put away until the end of the day, and the zoo is not responsible for lost, stolen, or broken items and these items cannot be charged during camp. The program’s mission statement is to connect participants’ lives to wildlife while inspiring lifelong learning and conservation action. The zoo also provides specialized programs and activities for under-served communities, and states that its goal is to ensure that its commitments, reinforced by its values, are embedded in day-to-day working practices.
