About
Kids Act Out! Summer Camps offers musical theatre youth camps where campers take part in theatre camp activities that include acting, singing, and dancing. Each week includes intensive rehearsals, classes on theatre methodologies and theatre history, and time spent learning audition techniques. Each camp week concludes with weekend performances for friends and family based on specific shows such as “TREASURE ISLAND: DIG FOR THE GOLD!”, “THE 12 DANCING PRINCESSES”, “LITTLE RED AND THE BIG BAD EVERYTHING!”, “THE JUNGLE BOOK”, “TALES OF THE BROTHERS GRIMM”, “THE LITTLE MERMAID”, “ALICE’S WONDERLAND”, “ADVANCED CAMP: LITTLE WOMEN”, and “THE WIZARD OF OZ”.
• Ages: 5–17 years old
• Schedule: Week-long camps with instructional time Monday–Friday 9am–3pm, early drop off 8:30–9am, pickup 3–3:30pm, with shows on Saturday; sessions run across nine weeks from June 8–13 through August 10–15
• Price: Fee: $345; all sales are final, with a general policy of offering a non-expiring credit towards a future class or workshop
The week-long summer camp offerings are for children ages 5–15, with an advanced offering at the end of the summer for more experienced campers ages 12–17. Week 1 features “TREASURE ISLAND: DIG FOR THE GOLD!” (ages 5–15), Week 2 “THE 12 DANCING PRINCESSES” (ages 5–15), Week 3 “LITTLE RED AND THE BIG BAD EVERYTHING!” (ages 5–14), Week 4 “THE JUNGLE BOOK” (ages 5–15), Week 5 “TALES OF THE BROTHERS GRIMM” (ages 5–15), Week 6 “THE LITTLE MERMAID” (ages 5–15), Week 7 “ALICE’S WONDERLAND” (ages 5–15), Week 8 “ADVANCED CAMP: LITTLE WOMEN” (ages 12–17, waitlist only), and Week 9 “THE WIZARD OF OZ” (ages 5–15, waitlist only). All campers bring a packed lunch each day, and signups have started for these musical theatre youth camps. Families can donate to the camper scholarship fund to sponsor a child’s education. Whether a child is interested in pursuing theatre professionally or trying it for the first time, the program welcomes all children and has a role ready for every student.
Kids Act Out! Summer Camps is connected with Clifton Performance Theatre, and leadership inquiries can be directed to Carol Brammer at 513.675.6789. The program’s stated mission is to bring the world of theatre to schools and help students explore creativity, develop social and emotional skills, and enhance academic progress through the arts, with a focus on teaching the principles and practices of theatre while making connections to real-life experiences.
One parent, Jessica W., shared that her 6-year-old son participated in a week of summer theatre camp that included a production of Peter Pan and that he came home each day excited to talk about creating the show and the goals he set for himself. She described the atmosphere as nurturing and supportive, said it had a profoundly positive effect on him, and noted that he expressed pride in himself after the first show and that she registered him for another week of camp later in the summer.
