Since 1963, Columbus Children’s Theatre Education Programs have been part of Columbus Children’s Theatre, which has been a cornerstone of youth arts education and performance in central Ohio. The programs are part of a mission to transform families through the power of the stage and include inclusive programming for toddlers, elementary students, and teens. Columbus Children’s Theatre Education Programs are organized into the Sandbox Series with brief, easily digestible theatre for ages 0–8, the Spotlight Series geared toward families and youth audiences with chances for young artists to shine, and the Professional Series featuring professional performers, designers, technicians, and advanced students. The organization offers tuition assistance, subsidized tickets, outreach residencies, workforce development opportunities, and sensory-friendly performances, and states a commitment to anti-racism, equity, and accessibility. Columbus Children’s Theatre serves more than 85,000 individuals each year through education, performance, and outreach in classrooms, rehearsal studios, libraries, community centers, and touring programs, and engages in cross-sector partnerships. A patron described a Columbus Children’s Theatre production of Ragtime as inspiring and noted a standing ovation at the end of the first act. Nick Cosgrove is a featured faculty member who has worked as a professional singer, actor, voice teacher, and acting coach across the U.S. and Canada for over 20 years and holds a BFA in Acting/Musical Theatre from Carnegie Mellon University.
