About
Columbus Recreation and Parks Summer Camps offer themed, week-long sessions where campers take part in arts, crafts, sports, games, science experiments and nature exploration. The program includes options to add desired camps to a wish list before registration and uses electronic, contactless check-in and check-out methods through the ePACT Network.
• Ages: 6–12 years old
• Schedule: Themed, week-long camps running June 8–Aug. 14, with camp hours from 8 a.m.–5 p.m., optional before-camp drop-off from 7:30–8 a.m., and after-camp pick-up from 5–5:30 p.m.
• Price: Registration fees are $120 for residents and $144 for non-residents, with late pick-up fees of $15 for up to 15 minutes late and $15 plus $1 per minute for 15 minutes late or more; for pick-ups between 5:30–5:45 p.m. a $15 fee applies, with an additional $1 per minute after 5:45 p.m.
Columbus Recreation and Parks Summer Camps are offered through community centers, with registration available online or in person at a local community center using an ACTIVENet account. Residents are defined as those living within the municipal boundaries of Columbus, and non-residents pay additional fees. After registering online, families receive a confirmation email, and the department reserves the right to adjust or cancel camps due to insufficient enrollment or unforeseen circumstances.
Columbus Recreation and Parks utilizes the ePACT Network health and safety software to collect health and emergency information and to support communication in emergencies. Inclusion services support staff develop accommodation plans for campers with various disabilities and challenges, and reasonable accommodations are provided without fundamentally altering the program. Campers may have a personal support person on-site with a mandatory background check, and all accommodation requests must be received by Wednesday, April 1; the contact for inclusion support services is Lindsey Zawacki at [email protected].
The Columbus Recreation and Parks Department states its mission as connecting the people of the community through the power of nature, wellness and creativity. The department encourages participation by a diverse population and accommodates people with varying abilities and learning styles. The City Recreation Department was established on July 15, 1910, and on Jan. 2, 1972, it merged with the Division of Forestry and Parks to become the Columbus Recreation and Parks Department.
