Its stated mission is to connect the people of the community through the power of nature, wellness and creativity. The department encourages the participation of a diverse population and accommodates people with varying abilities and learning styles. Columbus Recreation and Parks utilizes the ePACT Network, a health and safety software, to collect health and emergency information and support communication in emergencies. Inclusion services support staff develop accommodation plans to support campers with various disabilities and challenges, and reasonable accommodations are provided to enable an individual’s successful participation in camps. Campers are permitted to have a personal support person present on-site, with mandatory background checks required. Residents are defined as those who live within the municipal boundaries of Columbus, and non-residents must pay additional fees. Campers must be picked up by the end of the specified pick-up time, and late pick-up fees are assessed per camper: up to 15 minutes late is $15, and 15 minutes late or more is $15 plus an additional $1 per minute, which must be paid before the camper returns to any camp.
