Fort Hill Christian Youth Camp, 13500 Fort Hill Rd, Hillsboro, OH 45133
About
Fort Hill Christian Youth Camp offers swimming, hiking, games, crafts, talent contests, softball, volleyball, tetherball, and other sports, along with daily Bible classes, chapel services, singing, guest speakers, and evening devotionals. The camp runs a six-week program, with each week having its own traditions. A well-trained staff includes teachers, counselors, a camp nurse, an athletic director, Bible teachers, a night watchman, and two permanent certified lifeguards.
• Ages: 7–18 years old
• Schedule: Regular camping season runs June through August in six one-week sessions
• Price: Thanks to private donations and fund-raising activities, the cost of a week’s stay is very inexpensive compared to other, similar camps.
Since 1949, Fort Hill Christian Youth Camp has operated as a Christian youth camp governed and operated by Christian men and women and is a proud member of the Association of Christian Camps. Its mission states that the Bible is the camp’s chief textbook and that all courses of study and work are conducted in harmony with the Word of God, with every trustee, teacher, and other workers (except hired help) required to be members of the undenominational Church of Christ and to hold specific beliefs about the Bible, Christ, the gospel, and the church. The camp is overseen by a board that includes Board President Bill Phillis, Treasurer Cole Meadows, Vice President Rick Gampp, Secretary Ben Coyle, and trustees Michael Nix, Greg Hall, Thomas Mayes, Jeff Bauman, and Nick Pierce.
Fort Hill Christian Youth Camp states that the primary focus of the Fort Hill experience will always be on the spiritual development of youth and that it is a place to grow spiritually, physically, mentally, and socially. It also states that Fort Hill camp is for people of all ages, faiths, and backgrounds, and that no one will be denied admission to the camp or to the benefits of its USDA Child Nutrition Program because of race, color, national origin, sex, handicap, or age. A limited number of scholarships are available.
Fort Hill is available for private retreats and congregational outings, with private retreats subject to availability and alignment with the camp’s guiding principles as determined by the board of trustees. Three weeks each summer are set aside for band camps, and the camp is described as an ideal place for outdoor education and band camps. Several weekend retreats for men, women, singles, teens, and senior citizens occur in the winter, spring, and autumn, and adult activities are frequently scheduled.
Information about what to bring, arrival and departure times, and camp rules and regulations is provided in an information sheet that is sent to camp registrants.
