The Cultural Arts Division at the City of Mentor’s Wildwood Cultural Center offers these programs, courses, and special events, including live musical and theatrical performances throughout the year, to support and encourage the development of the arts in the community. Courses are offered year-round for preschoolers through adults in multiple disciplines, including painting, drawing, ceramics, photography, cooking, vocal and instrument lessons, dance, and drama. Camps such as Wildwood Theatre Camp, Quest Camp, and Fun in the Kitchen Cooking Camp are offered in the summer.
The estate and manor house that now house the Wildwood Cultural Center were built by the John G. Oliver family in 1908, and the City of Mentor purchased the property in 1980. The cultural center was placed on the National Register of Historic Homes in 1981, and the [unveiled] program was created in 1993. The Mentor Community Arts Commission’s [unveiled] programs celebrate art by highlighting local artists of all ages through artist exhibits and contests in facilities around the City of Mentor.
The Cultural Arts Division supports the Mentor Community Arts Commission and the Wildwood Garden Club. The Community Garden initiative encourages individuals, scout groups, church groups, and local organizations to engage in gardening and grow their own plants and produce. Wildwood Cultural Center also offers a membership program called Friends of Wildwood that provides newsletters, informational emails, special discounts, and promotions to members.
