Buckeye Valley Family YMCA Youth Programs include swim lessons and access to an outdoor pool. The programs use Hollander Pool, which is a public pool, and the John & Mary Alford Aquatic Center outdoor pool. Hollander Pool is Newark’s only public pool operated by the Buckeye Valley Family YMCA.
• Schedule: Hollander Pool is open 12:00–6:00 PM on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
The John & Mary Alford Aquatic Center outdoor pool is free to all YMCA members, including those who are members at another YMCA participating in nationwide reciprocity. If it is not 70 degrees by 11:00 AM, Hollander Pool does not open that day. The Buckeye Valley Family YMCA operates as a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization and is identified as one of the nation’s leading nonprofits for strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Its mission is to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all. Through the Healthy Kids Network Backpack Program, the YMCA sends over 500 backpacks home with students each weekend to make sure they have food when not in school. Livestrong® at the YMCA is a free program open to both men and women that meets twice a week for 90 minutes.
