About

Camp Invention is a weeklong STEM experience where campers take part in hands-on STEM adventures, high-energy morning games that encourage creativity and teamwork, and a variety of hands-on challenges and open-ended adventures. Activities include miniaturizing top-secret innovations, safeguarding designs using cryptography, protecting intellectual property, and time traveling to ensure ideas are patented and protected. Campers also investigate a series of mischievous pranks, create sleuthing gadgets, collect bits of fluffy fur, reveal a trail of animal tracks, examine suspicious splatters, and forensically analyze the evidence, along with buoyancy experiments, salty paddling challenges, sketching, designing and building prototypes, creating an innovative billboard boat, building a DIY rocket, launching a mission to transform a faraway planet’s atmosphere, terrain and ecosystem, racing a Rover to collect data and samples, designing inventions for intense planetary conditions, hatching a mysterious animal egg, and encountering a dazzling crystal surprise.

Camp Invention is part of an organization that has been honoring the spirit of innovation and promoting inventors as role models since 1973, with a mission to inspire emerging creators and entrepreneurs through education programs and to honor the history of innovation through its museum and Hall of Fame Inductees. Over the past year, it has partnered with more than 1,400 districts nationwide and in Puerto Rico and has 2,144 philanthropic partners, and it is founded and supported in partnership with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. The leadership team includes Rachelle Albrechta, Jayme Cellitioci, Ashley Giordano, Susie Duchon, Rachel Lutes, Emily Mitchell, Sara Pompeo, Maggie Saine and Jennifer Sitton.

Parent and caregiver testimonials describe children coming home eager to share what they learned, gaining confidence, making friends, and enjoying hands-on creative projects and inventions. Families from multiple locations report returning to Camp Invention in future years, enrolling multiple siblings, and seeing children who were initially hesitant about camp become excited to attend each day. Several testimonials mention children who are autistic, gifted, or who struggle with focus in school having positive experiences at Camp Invention.
