About

Camp Invention offers a weeklong STEM experience that includes fun, hands-on STEM adventures, high-energy morning games, hands-on challenges and open-ended adventures. Participants miniaturize top-secret innovations, safeguard their designs using cryptography and time travel to ensure their ideas are patented and protected. They investigate a series of mischievous pranks, create sleuthing gadgets, collect bits of fluffy fur, reveal a trail of animal tracks, examine suspicious splatters and forensically analyze the evidence. Campers also dive into hands-on buoyancy experiments, paddle their way through salty challenges, sketch, design and build prototypes, create an innovative billboard boat, build a DIY rocket, launch a mission to transform a faraway planet’s atmosphere, terrain and ecosystem, Rover Race to collect important data and samples, design and build inventions for navigating the intense conditions of their planet, hatch a mysterious animal egg and encounter a crystal surprise.

Camp Invention is led by qualified local educators. The program features a new curriculum each year, such as the 2026 program “Spark,” and collaborates with National Inventors Hall of Fame Inductees to create new program curricula. Its programs integrate 21st-century learning with fun, hands-on activities, align with state and national education standards and include take-home products developed as part of customized curricula. Experiences are carefully crafted to ensure development of persistence, adaptability and creative problem-solving skills and are described as one-of-a-kind creative problem-solving experiences.

Camp Invention is created by the National Inventors Hall of Fame, which has been honoring the spirit of innovation and promoting inventors as role models since 1973. The National Inventors Hall of Fame is in partnership with over 1,400 districts nationwide and in Puerto Rico over the past year and is founded and supported in partnership with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Its mission is to make STEM education accessible and promote innovation across the country. The leadership team includes Rachelle Albrechta (Director of Program Development), Jayme Cellitioci (Senior Director of Education), Ashley Giordano (Manager of Program Management), Susie Duchon (Education Specialist), Rachel Lutes (Curriculum Writer), Emily Mitchell (Senior Content Writer), Sara Pompeo (Editor), Maggie Saine (Spanish Services Lead & Education Specialist) and Jennifer Sitton (Director of Science & Product Development).

Parents and caregivers describe Camp Invention as a place where children come home eager to share what they are learning, excited to bring inventions home and interested in returning the next year. Several parents report that their children were initially unsure about camp but ended up loving it, with one parent noting that a child’s “new hobby is inventing things.” Families mention that children gained knowledge, confidence, friends and an openness to others’ ideas, and that campers were engaged throughout the day and looked forward to attending. One grandparent notes that a grandchild experienced cooperative learning and had fun while learning, and a parent of an autistic and gifted child reports that the camp has been wonderful for him and has helped his social skills.
