About
Sandlot Camp Westerville offers a variety of games and field trips throughout each camp week. The days have an amped-up, outdoor physical education class feel, with goofy games that include unexpected twists. Camp days are highly structured with lesson plans involving activities that are designed to elicit specific outcomes for kids ages 8–13 years old.
• Ages: 8–13 years old
• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:15 AM–3:45 PM, with early drop-off available between 8:00–8:45 AM for an additional weekly fee
• Price: $25 CASH per camper, per week for early drop-off, due in-person at Monday drop-off.
The mission of Sandlot Camp Westerville states that competition should be fun, with the goal that campers leave with great memories and skills they can carry beyond the field of play. The camp is not a baseball camp and is not a “recess” style camp that simply supervises campers as they play. Activities are described as highly physically active and competitive, and campers are expected to be ready to play outdoors in summer sun, heat, and humidity. Through goofy games with unexpected twists, the camp creates a low-stakes environment where kids experience both the highs of victory and the lessons that come from setbacks, with an emphasis on integrity, sportsmanship, resilience, and tenacious effort. The program notes that its activities help level the playing field and prove every camper’s value, whether through brains or brawn, and that when pressure is lower and outcomes are unpredictable, campers have the chance to play for the joy of it, give effort, take risks, and learn from mistakes without fear of disappointing others.
The Camp Director is Eric Indiciani, and the director and “Coaches” include licensed teachers with extensive experience teaching and coaching sports. The camp’s home-base is on the Central College Christian School campus, which is made available while it is unoccupied during summer break. Central College Christian Schools is described as graciously allowing the camp to use its lot during this time, and the camp notes this community involvement. The program history is identified as ©2018–2026 Sandlot Westerville, LLC.
For daily logistics, curbside drop-off is available so parents or guardians do not need to get out of their car. At pick-up, parents or guardians have the option to park and walk over to where their child’s team and coach are standing, and ID may be requested at pick-up. If it is storming at pick-up or drop-off time, the entrance of Kirk Hall may be used. Medication, if applicable, should be handed directly to a staff member in a plastic bag labeled with the camper’s name and emergency contact information.
Parent testimonials describe kids coming home with exciting stories about what they did, who they met, and the lessons they learned, and several parents mention that their children wanted to return for additional weeks. Multiple parents note that their children came home exhausted and happy, looked forward to the next day, and were eager to get up and go in the morning. Parents also mention that their children talked about learning teamwork, sportsmanship, kindness, leadership, and being a good teammate, and some refer to “homework” that reinforced lessons at home. Several families state that this was their child’s favorite camp or favorite week of camp, and some note that they plan to sign up again or recommend the camp to friends.
