About

Museum Camp includes a week of games, crafts, rocks, and more. The program takes place at the Baker Heritage Museum, which is a two-story interpretive collection of Baker County's history from the 1860s through the 1960s, with core exhibits on logging, ranching, mining, historical Baker City, Wally Byam's Airstream experience, Chinese heritage, native and non-native wildlife, and regional Native American artifacts such as stone tools. Museum Camp is limited to 25 spots for children in grades K–6, and a child's space is not secured until both registration and payment have been received.

• Ages: 5–11 years old
• Schedule: June 15–17, 2026, 1pm–4pm, and June 18, 2026, 1pm–6pm
• Price: Cost: $35 to register for museum camp. Scholarships are available.

In 1982, the Baker County Museum Commission established the Baker Heritage Museum, formerly the Oregon Trail Regional Museum, in the 100-year-old Baker Municipal Natatorium. The Baker Municipal Natatorium, where the museum is located, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977. The museum’s mission is: “Baker Heritage Museums preserve, interpret, and share Baker County's historic objects and archives. With focus, we provide hands-on learning for all ages and maintain robust and powerful exhibits that inspire exploration of our rich cultural heritage.” One of the exhibits available at the museum is “Pioneers to Pillars: The experience and legacy of Chinese communities in Baker County 1860–1960.”
