About

Youth Programs include several golf options such as Golf, Golf for the Health Of It (GFTHOI), the Baker Middle School Intramural Golf Program, and K-3 Camp. K-3 Camp is a four-week golf camp for kindergarteners through 3rd graders. Students in grades 4th–8th are eligible to participate in Golf for the Health Of It (GFTHOI).

• Ages: 9–14 years old
• Schedule: GFTHOI runs for 8 weeks; the Baker Middle School Intramural Golf Program runs for three consecutive weeks in May with practices Monday–Wednesday from 4:00pm to 5:30pm; K-3 Camp meets on four Fridays in summer; 5th/6th graders can golf free on Mondays from May 30 through October 31
• Price: 5th/6th graders golf for free every Monday, and adults accompanying 5th/6th graders can play for $15

For the Baker Middle School Intramural Golf Program, student-athletes provide their own transportation to and from the golf course. For 5th/6th grade free Mondays, students can use rental clubs at no cost and must have an accompanying adult. Students going into the 5th or 6th grades can use rental clubs at no cost on Mondays.

Youth Programs take place at a course that is owned by Baker City and managed by Anthony Lakes Outdoor Recreation Association (ALORA), a 501c3 nonprofit organization. Golf for the Health Of It (GFTHOI) is a collaboration between Quail Ridge Golf Course and the Baker 5J School District, and Quail Ridge partners with Brooks Golf Management to implement a core curriculum for GFTHOI. The second nine holes of the course were designed by award-winning course architect Bill Robinson. Built in 1936 as a Works Progress Administration project and expanded to 18 holes in 1999, the course has provided recreational opportunities for over 87 years.

The mission of the managing organization is to enrich and improve the lives of Baker, Union, Grant, Wallowa, and Umatilla County residents, especially youth, through enhancing local, year-round outdoor recreational opportunities, focusing on stewardship, education, and promotion of outdoor activities, and ensuring that all opportunities and activities are provided in an affordable manner. All proceeds from the 2nd annual Oyster Feed go directly to benefit the Baker City Backpack Program, helping provide meals to children in need.
