Youth Education is part of The Environmental Center’s programs and focuses on helping students understand the connection between humans and the environment. The program supports students in making decisions that reduce their impact on the environment.

The Environmental Center’s mission is to embed sustainability into daily life in Central Oregon. The organization began in 1989. It works alongside people of all ages, local businesses, and elected officials, and hosts events that educate, engage, and empower Central Oregon residents and visitors. It recognizes and respects Indigenous Peoples as the original stewards of the land where its facility, garden, and programs exist, and describes itself as a guest with tribal neighbors making homes and legacies in these spaces together. The Environmental Center describes itself as a regional leader in environmental education, engagement, and action, and it notes that its broader work also includes School Gardens, Rethink Waste, Climate Solutions, Advocacy, and the Eco Central campaign.
