About
Camp CREATE offers adventure and experiential-based camps that include theme-based activities and projects such as field trips, outdoor exploration, excursions, and group games. Campers take part in activities like building LEGO robots, making stuffed animals, safari exploration, exploring ecosystems, designing maps, creating solar-powered overland vehicles, designing and building arcade games from found objects, and using tools from the IDEA (innovation, design, engineering, and art) lab. Additional activities include coding, augmented reality, virtual reality, 3D printing, drone exploration, sewing, ceramics, basic circuitry, LEGO robotics, building specialty toys, spelunking through caves, examining water ecology, learning about the role of rocks in history, and a space-themed, theater-based camp where campers build a galactic plot, design characters, create costumes, produce props, and host a play.

Camp CREATE stands for Creatively Redefining Education through Adventurous Teachable Experiences and is offered through Cascades Academy, a PreK–12 independent school founded in 2003. Programs are designed for students entering kindergarten through fifth grade, with specialized half-day camps for Pre-K students operated outside of the K–5 cohort. Each instructor oversees a group of no more than ten campers, and all instructors are college level or higher with two or more years of experience working with children. All staff are First Aid/CPR certified and trained by Camp CREATE educators. Cascades Academy notes small class sizes of 18–20 students, three IDEA Labs, a robust tuition assistance program, and a 100% college acceptance rate. The school’s mission is to deliver meaningful, challenging, and experiential education to inspire lifelong learners who are socially responsible individuals ready for a diverse and changing world, and the Head of School is Julie Amberg.
Camp CREATE takes excursions to places in the community and collaborates with educational collaborators and instructors, including a “Lights, Camera… BLAST OFF” camp in partnership with BEAT Children’s Theater. A current parent describes partnering with the school to challenge their child socially, emotionally, and academically, and to reinforce curiosity and a love of learning at home.
