TJ Kostecky is returning for his 9th visit to Carlton to provide free world-class Vision Training sessions. The club states that it believes every child should have the opportunity to play soccer and be an important part of their community, with a goal of bringing the highest level of locally accessible training possible while encouraging mentorship and community spirit, and emphasizes “Building Community through the Love of the Game” of soccer as part of its mission.
The non-profit YC Soccer Club is a sponsored project of Yamhill Carlton Together Cares (YCTC) and participates in the Mac Parks and Rec League. The club runs a year-round “Deposit Return” Bottle and Can Drive for the YCSC Scholarship Program, which funds scholarships and equipment for many free programs. Youth mentorship opportunities run year-round, with documented volunteer hours that can count toward the Presidential Volunteer Service Award, and the club reports over 10,500 hours of volunteerism in 2025. The club reports that its programs are fully inclusive and integrative from toddler through adult, including players with special needs, and that its programs touch the lives of more than 700 people annually, including special needs and emerging athletes and seasoned players.
Yamhill Carlton Soccer Club Programs report that they are Oregon’s first certified club with Vision Training Soccer and the only certified “Vision Training Club” in Oregon. Vision Training is described as the core of the program from April to October 2026, and every player needs Vision Training to qualify for team league play. The club reports that it teaches individual vision to all age levels so players can grow to own their game and play with creativity and speed in the flow.
In 2025, the club reports providing 982 programming hours, with 722 of those hours free, and serving over 500 youth and family members in fully inclusive and integrative programming from toddlers through adults. The club states that it kept annual membership at $15 and that it provides its facility at no cost to families. It also reports that it never tallies wins and losses and instead celebrates what matters, and that it encourages mixed age and skill play.
Participants can earn a club jersey after their first three days or events of participation, with Champions Club patches earned for every additional three events, and can work toward earning a free Champions Club jacket. The Juggling Champions activity recognizes players who juggle their age, and the club notes that the top of the Juggling Champions leaderboard is Luke Corrigan with a club record of 221. Members can access numerous free programs, including Free Toddler Fun Time, Emerging Programs, Champions Club, and Arena Drop-ins, as well as free camps and tournaments and multiple opportunities to train with visiting coaches from around the world.
The club notes that running or soft-soled shoes are required in the YCSC Arena, with no cleats allowed, and that bottles and cans are collected at the Arena for the Scholarship Program. The club states that it has a record of volunteerism that is unparalleled by other clubs in Oregon and that it encourages parents and players to get involved, including volunteering and earning the Presidential Service Award while “Building Community Through the Love of the Game.”
