Pacific School of Dance offers 2nd Saturday Dance Classes that meet once a month. These 2nd Saturday Dance Classes are open to all children and are listed as a specific activity of the program. Pacific School of Dance operates as a Community Impact Program of the Boys and Girls Club of Southwest Oregon. The vision of Pacific School of Dance is to provide the best possible training in a professional atmosphere, whether or not a dance career is planned. Through outreach and performances, the program states that it endeavors to educate the public, particularly school-age students, in the etiquette and benefits of watching and participating in artistic presentations as they apply to dance. Artistic Director Lindsay Gumaskas is listed as the Artistic Director, and Pamela Chaney is listed as the Administrative Director. The leadership history notes that Christine took over as Artistic Director of the school from 2013–2022 and that in 2010 she was named co-artistic director of Ballet Pacific, later being promoted to Artistic Director in 2013 and continuing in that role. Staff experience includes competitive dance with numerous awards, soloist work with Dance Rave, performances in London, England with Varsity Spirit, participation in the XXXVII Super Bowl Halftime Show, and performances in Southern California. Teaching experience includes preschool dance, adult tap, hip hop, jazz, tap, lyrical, and choreography, as well as instruction at Southwestern Oregon Community College and long-term study and teaching of tap since 1990. Additional performance experience includes work with Christina Dillard's Big Red Dance Co. (1995–98, 2001) and The Wylie's Bleeding Hearts Ensemble (2000–2003). Training has been furthered through dance teachers’ workshops and ballet teachers’ workshops in 2017, 2019, 2021, and 2022, including programs at the Pennsylvania Youth Ballet and Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, and the Pacific Northwest Ballet Summer Intensive Program with a scholarship for two consecutive years. One instructor received the four-year Willam F. Christensen Scholarship for the University of Utah Department of Ballet and danced with Ballet West for three seasons from 1984–1986.
Professional certifications listed include ACE Certified Group Fitness Instructor, certification in Power Pilates Beginning and Intermediate Mat, AFAA Certified Fitness Instructor, Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT) teaching certification, and membership in the Actor’s Equity Association.
