Tennis & Pickleball – Boys & Girls Club of Southwestern Oregon offers tennis, pickleball, private tennis lessons, a Hot Shots tennis class, a Team Tennis class, Adult Tennis, and Adult Pickleball. The Hot Shots class introduces tennis skills to new players using games and drills, while the Team Tennis class uses advanced drills, strategies, and matches and emphasizes increasing speed, shot selection, and strategy. Courses are available for all skill levels from recreational beginners to competitive high school players, and private lessons are also available.
• Ages: 5–19 years old
• Schedule: Four-week sessions with youth Hot Shots and Team Tennis classes and morning and evening Adult Tennis & Pickleball options
• Price: Hot Shots: $100 / 4 weeks; Team Tennis: $150 / 4 weeks; Adult Tennis: $12 per person each session or $100 for a 10-visit punch card; Pickleball: $8 per person each session, $70 for a 10-visit punch card, or $100 for a 20-visit punch card
The Hot Shots class meets Monday and Wednesday from 5:30–6:30pm, and the Team Tennis (Intense Youth/Teen Group) class meets Tuesday and Thursday from 4:30–6:30pm. Adult Tennis & Pickleball sessions are offered Monday through Thursday from 9:00–11:30am and again Monday through Thursday from 6:30–8:30pm.
The program’s tennis instruction is led by Kylee Woodman, who has years of tennis playing experience. She played #1 singles all four years for North Bend High School and later played for Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science. She has taught players of all ages, from beginners to advanced, and is described as having a positive, encouraging, and determined attitude that helps to improve each of her players.
The Boys & Girls Club of Southwestern Oregon states that it is dedicated to assisting all youth to achieve their fullest potential by enhancing their self-esteem, providing positive role models, and helping them develop the qualities needed to become caring, productive, responsible citizens. The leadership team includes Chief Professional Officer Denise Gould, Pacific School of Dance representative Pam Chaney, Bookkeeper Cheryl Strope, Resource Development staff member Rob Miles, Program Director Jay Link, Sports Director Reyna Medina, Gymnastics Plus representative Roy Lans, and tennis instructor Kylee Woodman.
