About
Boys & Girls Clubs of the Rogue Valley – Clubs & Team Sports offers after-school programming, summer programming, and organized leagues in volleyball, flag football, and basketball. Organized team sports in this program are run in a fun, “fair-play” atmosphere where youth take part in structured leagues.
• Ages: 5–18 years old
• Schedule: Youth in grades K–12 have access to after-school and summer programming Monday through Friday.
Since 1970, Boys & Girls Clubs of the Rogue Valley has served thousands of Southern Oregon youth each year. Its mission is for youth to make right choices and become responsible, productive citizens. Programs and activities are focused in five core areas of youth development: The Arts; Education & Career Development; Sports, Fitness & Recreation; Character & Leadership Development; and Health & Life Skills. The Alternative Learning Center connected with the program is an alternative school for District 7 middle school students who need a change from their regular campus setting. Solar panels installed at the Grants Pass Club save thousands on power bills each year and are expected to eliminate 2,102 tons of carbon dioxide over the lifetime of the system, which is described as the equivalent of planting 48,977 trees. Community involvement has included a solar panel project at the Grants Pass Club and a community bingo and donation event called “Pints for a Purpose” at The Phoodery in Phoenix, Oregon, where $1 from every meal or drink and 100% of bingo proceeds are donated to Boys & Girls Clubs of the Rogue Valley. One shared testimonial about the program states, “Our youth of today are our leaders of tomorrow and champions for a better quality of life in our community,” from Richard “Dick” Smith.
