Herrold Stables Horseback Riding Camps & Lessons

Herrold Stables Horseback Riding Camps & Lessons offers horseback riding instruction that includes riding horses and ponies, lead line riding at the walk and trot, and opportunities to walk, trot, canter, and try beginning jumping. Camp and event activities include grooming and riding minis, ponies, and horses, learning about safety, grooming, tack equipment, horsemanship, and horse care, as well as horse games on foot, relay races, gaming, and an obstacle trail. Some sessions also include time playing with and petting ducks, chickens, rabbits, barn cats, kittens, and mini horses.

• Ages: 2–18 years old
• Schedule: One-day Horse Farm Fun Day and Horse Day on the Farm events run from 1:00–2:30 pm, and three-day camps run Tuesday–Thursday from 9:00 am–1:00 pm
• Price: 2026 Horse Farm Fun Day costs $75 per student per day event; 2026 Horse Riding 3 Day Camps cost $320 per student and include a camp shirt, with payments non-refundable but usable for other services within two months and no credit or refund for absent campers

Dan and Elaine Herrold have owned and operated Herrold Stables, LLC, also referred to as “The Peaceful Ride,” for over 20 years and have been successfully serving equine needs for over 40 years, including gentling several wild mustangs. Elaine show jumped in the late 1980s under the guidance of Barbara Murry of Valley West Equestrian Facility, and lessons are open for ages 2 and up using schoolmaster horses and ponies hand-picked for safety and teaching ability, ranging in size from a 10-hand pony to a 17.1-hand finished pleasure horse. Herrold Stables, LLC is a Girl Scout Approved Facility, is an approved outfitter for Girl Scouts of Oregon and SW Washington, and is Hillsboro Park & Recreation approved to provide Spring and Summer camps, with small camp size and limited enrollment and both English and Western saddles accessible daily.
