Herrold Stables Horseback Riding Day Camps & Lessons includes riding horses and ponies, grooming and riding minis, ponies, and horses, and walking, trotting, and cantering on horseback. Campers and students may also do beginning jumping, gaming, obstacle trail, relay races, and horse games on foot, and may spend time playing with or petting ducks, chickens, rabbits, barn cats, kittens, and mini horses. The program includes safety, grooming, tack equipment, horsemanship, and horse care, with riding offered in both English and Western saddles and access to a large green pasture obstacle course and a trail around the property.
• Ages: 2–18 years old
• Schedule: Single-day Horse Farm Fun Day and Horse Day on the Farm sessions run 1.5 hours, and 3 Day Camps run three days from 9am–1pm, with lessons available by appointment on select weekdays and Saturdays.
• Price: 2026 Horse Farm Fun Day is $75 per student per day event; 2026 Horse Riding 3 Day Camps are $320 per student with a camp shirt included.
Herrold Stables Horseback Riding Day Camps & Lessons asks that students under 5 years be accompanied by an adult for Horse Farm Fun Day, and that students have the ability to balance while sitting on the back of a horse. For all events and camps, students are asked to wear layered clothing, gloves, and boots or closed-toed shoes, and may bring their own helmet or use a provided helmet, with parents of riders ages 2–5 possibly required to stay and students grouped by age and ability. For 3 Day Camps, participants are asked to bring layered clothing, boots or closed-toed shoes, gloves, a helmet or to borrow one, along with a sack lunch and water bottle.
Dan and Elaine Herrold have owned and operated Herrold Stables, LLC for over 20 years and have been serving equine needs and gentling several wild mustangs for over 40 years. Elaine show jumped in the late 1980s under the guidance of Barbara Murry of Valley West Equestrian Facility and went on to train several of her own horses, and Elaine Herrold is listed as a contact for questions or to sign up at 971-235-4529. Herrold Stables, LLC is a Girl Scout Approved Facility, is an approved outfitter for Girl Scouts of Oregon and SW Washington, and is Hillsboro Park & Recreation approved to provide Spring and Summer Camps.
