About

Camp Eagle Cap is a one week wilderness camp where kids ride up 6 miles on horses, camp in a 100 year old cabin next to one of the high lakes, and fish on wooden poles. During the week, campers learn camping skills, teamwork, respect, and leadership while away from internet and television. They also swim in Wallowa lake, see wildlife, watch eagles fly, ride go-karts, and play putt putt golf.

• Ages: 10–12 years old
• Schedule: One week wilderness camp in the summer; SUMMER 2026 Week 1 TBD, Week 2 TBD

Camp Eagle Cap is a faith-based organization offering a one week wilderness camp in the summer for at risk kids ages 10–12. The program has been the long term dream of Chester E. Freeman for over 20 years, and Chester and the partners involved have teamed up to give at risk kids an opportunity to see their lives through God’s lens in a wilderness setting. The camp has a ratio of 1 leader per 2 kids, and kids come from all areas of Central Oregon. Its mission states that this environment fosters a sense of tranquility so that campers can begin to focus on the grace and hope of God’s healing love, and that, with God’s help, the camp endeavors to promote a healing environment where love, forgiveness, teamwork, interdependence, trust, and God based values are promoted. Camp Eagle Cap collaborates with local churches and faith based organizations for ongoing prayer and counsel.
