• Ages: 5–18 years old

Over the past 20+ years, Wallowa Lake United Methodist Camp has been transformed through a major fundraising drive and a master plan. In the early 1920s, a group of Methodist ministers leased land in the area of the current camp to hold the first Wallowa Lake Epworth League Institute, and within two years the organizers raised $1,800 and purchased 110 acres for a permanent camp site. In 1928, the camp holdings were turned over to the Western District and it became the Methodist Camp Association, then in 1952 the camp was transferred to the Idaho Conference. In 1957, timber from the property was harvested and sold to raise funds for the construction of the Lesley Bailey Lodge, which was dedicated in 1959. The camp’s mission statement is: “Adults, Families, Youth & Children, let us care for you in Christian hospitality on over 60 beautiful sacred acres at the base of the Wallowas in Northeast Oregon.” The camp is a partnership between The Oregon-Idaho Conference of The United Methodist Church and The Episcopal Diocese of Oregon, and it is available for use by individuals and families, in addition to many nonprofit groups. Campers under the age of 18 are allowed to drive to camp only with the written permission of parents and are not allowed to have any passengers under the age of 18. The Camp Directors are Peggy and David Lovegren.
