Hatfield Marine Science Center K-12 and Youth Academic Programs offers an array of academic programs for students in K-12. These hands-on academic programs are part of a broader set of offerings that also extend through community college and post-doc levels. Hatfield hosts a thriving summer internship program connected to its marine science focus.

Hatfield Marine Science Center K-12 and Youth Academic Programs is part of Oregon State University’s coastal campus for research, education, and outreach in marine sciences. Since 1965, Hatfield has been a hub for coastal research and serves as an oceanographic research base for six state and federal agencies. Hatfield is home to Oregon State University’s Marine Operations, which includes research vessels, marine technology, and support services, and it supports the broader OSU marine research enterprise, including OSU Marine Operations, PacWave, and the South Coast Port Orford Field Station. Its setting offers direct access to the ocean, beaches, estuaries, and coastal rivers, supporting multidisciplinary research and learning. Through partnerships with agencies, industry, and local communities, Hatfield advances understanding of marine systems and applies this knowledge to social, economic, and environmental challenges.
