Portland Metro Arts Summer Camps and Workshops

Portland Metro Arts Summer Camps and Workshops offers 4 Arts Grade School Camp, where students take Dance, Music, Theatre, and Visual Arts classes, and 4 Arts Preschool Camp, where children take part in 2 different art forms each day. It also offers All About Art Camp, with drawing, painting, and sculpture; The Play’s the Thing Camp, with plot, character development, voice, staging, and movement; and Joyful Jams, with musical instruments and ensembles.

Programs

• 4 Arts Grade School Camp — Grades 1-6 · June 15-19 and August 17-21; 9:00 am-4:00 pm · Dance, Music, Theatre, and Visual Arts classes geared for young artists; full-day camp with pick up no later than 5 pm.
• 4 Arts Preschool Camp — PK-1st grade · August 17-21; morning camp 9:00 am-noon · A comprehensive arts and academic program for children entering PK-1st grade; takes part in 2 different art forms per day.
• All About Art Camp — Grades 1-6 · June 22-26; 9:00 am-4:00 pm · Explore drawing, painting, and sculpture in a variety of fun projects.
• All About Art Half-Day Camp — School grades 1-6 · June 29-July 2; 9:00 am-noon · Half-day camp that explores drawing, painting, and sculpture in a variety of fun projects.
• The Play’s the Thing Camp — Grades 1-6 · June 29-July 2; 9:00 am-4:00 pm · Campers explore plot, character development, voice, staging, and movement; performance for family and friends at the end of the camp.
• Joyful Jams — Grades 1-6 · July 6-10; 9:00 am-4:00 pm · A full spectrum of musical instruments and experiences; full day of music exploration and ensembles.
• Makers Workshop Camp — Grades 1-6 · July 13-17; 9:00 am-4:00 pm · Teacher-led projects including weaving to woodworking.
• Heroes, Dragons & Masks Camp — Grades 1-6 · July 20-24; 9:00 am-4:00 pm · Explore dragons, super-heroes, villains and folklore; create adventure stories and masks and other art projects.
• The Mystery of the Dancing Royals — Grades 1-6 · July 27-31 · Dance camp listed under Dance Inclusive Camps.
• Way Off Broadway — Grades 1-6 · August 3-7 · Listed under Dance Inclusive Camps, Music Inclusive Camps, and Theatre Inclusive Camps.
• Acting Adventures — Grades 1-6 · August 10-14 · Listed under Theatre Inclusive Camps.
• Summer Dance Intensive — Middle/High School · July 6-24 · Listed as a middle/high school camp.

• General schedule: Summer term for private music lessons runs for 10 weeks from June 15 to August 21; students can sign up for as few as 2 to all 10 weeks. Regular weekly Dance, Music, Theatre, and Visual Arts classes resume on Tuesday, September 2.

Portland Metro Arts is a nonprofit arts organization that has been operating since 1952. Its mission is to ensure that everyone, especially children, have the opportunity to learn, perform, and experience the arts by providing meaningful access to quality arts education, performance programs, and service as a cultural resource to the community. PMA provides arts education and performance opportunities throughout the Portland Metro Area.

Registration is first-come, first-served. If the blue Register link does not appear next to a listing, the camp/workshop is full. As the summer progresses more spaces may open; register for the Waitlist to be notified if a space becomes available.
