About

Portland Metro Arts School Year Programs offers classes in Pre-Dance, Ballet, Hip Hop, Tap, and Metro Dancers, along with PMA Musical Theatre and Actor’s Workshop. Students can take music classes such as Musical Beginnings, Musical Journeys, and Piano and Strings Private Music Lessons, and can create art in a variety of styles and mediums, both traditional and contemporary. The program also includes Kids Play 1 and Kids Play 2, quality supervised after-school care with transportation from select schools, the Hammer & Nail/Needle & Thread Club, student performances such as Evening of Illusion and Coppelia School Performance, and PMA students receive free and discount tickets to a variety of performances each season.

• Schedule: Office hours Monday–Friday 1pm–7pm and Saturday 9am–1pm; Hammer & Nail/Needle & Thread Club meets the 2nd Saturday of every month, any time from 10am to 2pm

Portland Metro Arts School Year Programs takes place in the PMA Center, which has inviting classroom, studio and performance spaces, including spacious studios for dance, theatre, music and visual arts programs and performances in a well-equipped theatre space. The staff is trained in CPR and First Aid procedures, and each teaching artist has years of training, is certified in their area of expertise, and has considerable professional experience. Portland Metro Arts is a nonprofit arts organization founded in 1983, and PMA has been operating since 1952 providing arts education and performance opportunities throughout the Portland Metro Area. The organization’s mission is to ensure that everyone, especially children, have the opportunity to learn, perform and experience the arts by providing meaningful access to quality arts education, performance programs and serving as a cultural resource to the community. The program offers all-ages, all-levels dance, dance, music, theatre and visual arts classes available concurrently in the same building as a one-stop arts programming option for families, follows a philosophy of nondiscrimination and honoring the diversity of the city, and is located in a building with easy access to light-rail, bus and freeway connections.
