My Voice Music Programs focus on teaching young people to write original songs, record music, and perform music. The program includes rock camps, songwriting-based music workshops, recording sessions, and forming a band as part of its activities. Rock camps include writing songs, recording them, and participants receiving their own CD.

My Voice Music was formed in 2008. The organization’s mission is: “Amplifying young voices and igniting self-discovery through music.” MVM Studios is a full recording studio and performance space where music classes, rock camps, and recording sessions take place, and it is also a full recording studio for emerging songwriters, musicians, beat makers, and poets ages 9–24. Rock camps are for kids ages 9–13.
My Voice Music brings all the instruments and instruction needed to run music groups at therapeutic centers, juvenile detention centers, schools, and other youth organizations through its Satellite Programs, which help over 1,000 youth ages 7–17 each year. My Voice Music serves over 2,000 youth each year. Play it Forward Scholarships provide free programs for youth in foster care and youth living in treatment centers and rehabilitation programs, and when a family pays full tuition, they also pay for a student who needs financial assistance to attend.
MVM has been recognized by the City of Portland for having “greatly contributed to bringing music back into the lives of the next generation…fostering personal, social, creative and intellectual development…and transforming marginalized youth.” My Voice Music’s music programs, and their leadership, have been honored both locally and nationally with several awards. The founder is Ian Mouser.
