Community Music Center Music Programs include music classes, music lessons, concerts, workshops, and music camps. The programs also offer Youth Choir, Teen Vocal Ensemble, Music, Beats & Sounds camps, beat making, recording, experimenting, instrument rentals, and activities that include good fitness habits and financial literacy.

• Schedule: Office hours Tuesday–Friday 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm; Music, Beats & Sounds summer camps run Monday–Friday 10:00 am to 4:00 pm with drop off beginning at 8:30 am and pick up from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm; camp sessions are July 8–19 and July 22–August 2
Since 1955, Community Music Center of Portland, Oregon has been enriching the greater Portland community by providing opportunities to learn about, make, and enjoy music, and it became a non-profit in 1960. The Community Music Center is a program of Portland Parks & Recreation in partnership with the non-profit Community Music Center, Inc., which is supported by an all-volunteer non-profit that raises money year-round to provide instruments, equipment, scholarships, and other items to lower barriers of participation. The Center has a faculty of over 25 professional performing artist teachers, and its leadership history includes directors such as Gregory Dubay, Robert Crawley, Dorothea Lensch (Recreation Director), Isadore Tinkleman, and Philip Murthey and Charles Farmer, who directed and built the program in succession for 30 years. Geoffrey Mosley is a musician, educator, veteran, and community worker who has taught piano and cello for over ten years in various settings and currently teaches piano at Community Music Center at Y.O.U.TH while coordinating a veterans services program for a local nonprofit. The organization partners with groups in East Portland, including Music, Beats & Sounds: Summer Camps at Y.O.U.T.H in partnership with @y.o.u.thpdx, and has partner activities involving CMC instructors, alumni, or students with Portland Youth Philharmonic and Metropolitan Youth Symphony. The mission of Community Music Center is to enhance the greater Portland community by providing opportunities for all ages to learn about, make, and enjoy music.
