Dance From The Heart PDX offers ballet classes and creative movement classes for children. The program focuses on ballet and creative movement as its core class activities.

Dance From The Heart PDX was established in 2010 in NE Portland by Katarina Svetlova and has had over 2,000 students in the program since it began. The program offers ballet and creative movement classes in a supportive, positive and encouraging environment to dancers of all levels, without losing the integrity of the classical technique. Classes are described as joy-filled ballet classes in the heart of NE Portland, Oregon and are offered for children ages 3–9 years.
Teachers at Dance From The Heart PDX have extensive experience teaching young dancers in a creative and nurturing environment. Founder Katarina Svetlova has been teaching children of all ages and adults for over 25 years and uses a combination of approaches based on Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness practice, Plant-Based Nutrition, and Yoga to work with dancers. Robyn Ulibarri has over three decades of teaching experience in studios, camps, after-school programs, and educational settings, and has been connected to Oregon Ballet Theatre since 2011, most recently as Director of Community and Engagement. Jackie received classical ballet training and performing experience with Pacific Northwest Ballet on full scholarship and currently teaches at Evergreen Dance Academy and on the Pre-Ballet faculty at Oregon Ballet Theatre. Jenna Johnson has been choreographing and instructing for 13 years, previously served as a Teaching Artist with the North Carolina Theatre Conservatory, and now teaches at Oregon Ballet Theatre School and other early education dance programs in Oregon while studying to become an ASL/English interpreter.
Dance From The Heart PDX was established by Katarina Svetlova, who began her professional ballet career at Oregon Ballet Theatre at age 15 and later danced principal roles in many classical ballets at Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Düsseldorf, Germany. A parent testimonial from Jamie Lynn Webster states that Katarina’s classes offer a blend of creativity and dance tradition, and that children in the class learn about movement, vocabulary, etiquette, music, narrative, and drama.
