Pipster Prep is described as an Active Learning Preschool that offers Preschool, Mini Pipster, Miniest Pipster, and a Friday Night Pajama Party called Friday Date Night. Once a month, the Friday Night Pajama Party includes dinner served at 6:30 pm and is open to potty trained children 3 to 8 years old, with availability limited and offered first to parents of enrolled students. Pipster Prep staff members follow both a student-centered and constructivist approach to learning, focusing on each student’s needs, abilities, interests, and learning styles, and on students learning through actively engaging in lessons and activities. Pipster Prep is committed to small class sizes and individual instruction, with each class having ten to fourteen children per day. Pipster Prep Northwest houses six classrooms and serves approximately 60 children per day, currently accepting enrollments for potty trained children ages 3–5 years old, while students younger than 3 can enroll at the nearby Hillside location beginning at 24 months, and Miniest Pipster care is provided for students at least 18 months old in a class available only at the Concordia location. Mini Pipster is available for two year olds at the Northeast, Concordia, Hillside, and Lake Oswego locations, and Pipster Prep primarily enrolls for summer and fall with limited spots available during the school year.
Students joining Preschool or PreK must be potty trained before beginning in those classrooms, while students in Mini Pipster and Miniest Pipster classrooms do not need to be potty trained, and parents are asked to keep at least one full change of clothing stored at Pipster Prep. Pipster Prep’s NE families have a new home at the newly remodeled Piedmont campus, which is described as a bright, modern space thoughtfully designed for students and families, and in-person tours are conducted at the Northwest Portland location with virtual tours available via Zoom.
