• Schedule: Free virtual tutoring program offered outside of the school day

Reading Results states that literacy is a basic human right and that it works to increase access and break down barriers through its reading intervention program. The organization partners with schools serving low-income students and students from systemically excluded communities, including students who are low income and students of color. Reading Results also provides job opportunities for parents.

The Extended Day Literacy Tutoring Program is connected to a leadership team that includes Dana Nerenberg, Principal at Sitton Elementary School; Dan Ryan, Portland City Commissioner; Jane Fielding, Former Principal with Portland Public Schools; Tamala Newsome, Former Principal with Portland Public Schools; Ericka Guynes, Principal at Earl Boyles Elementary School; and Alexa Miles, Community Relations Specialist at OnPoint Community Credit Union.

Testimonials about Reading Results describe students gaining confidence as they become readers and experiencing joy when they can unlock text and the world that books provide. School leaders report that students in Reading Results experience reading gains at a higher rate than students who are not in the program and that the program has had a positive impact on student data. One testimonial notes that the partnership allows schools to target specific needs of students and that Reading Results has provided job opportunities for parents. A parent of a second grader reports being thrilled by how much confidence their child has gained while participating in Reading Results and describes a fundamental change in how their child approaches reading.
