Since the start of Flash Basketball in 2013, Team Flash Athletics has run Flash League recreational basketball for boys and girls in K–4th Grade with divisions including Kindy/1st Grade Co-Ed, Boys 1/2nd, Boys 3/4th, Girls 1/2nd, and Girls 3/4th. Flash League is recreational or non-competitive by design and keeps Kindy/1st Grade rosters at 8 players or less, with other divisions at 10 players per team, and friend requests are first come, first serve if all players register before rosters are full. Kindy/1st Co-Ed teams practice for 20 minutes before their Sunday games, while all other divisions have one 60-minute Saturday practice, and the cost includes 8 Sundays of games, Saturday practices for 1st–4th Grade, and a team jersey.

The program includes pregame player introductions where players run out of an inflatable tunnel, with music and longer games in what is described as a competitive and fun environment. Instructions come from both professional coaches and volunteer team coaches who follow a curriculum-based instructional program. Flash Competitive teams are formed year round, have tryouts, and play against other club teams in competitive leagues and tournaments, with boys and girls competitive basketball offered from 3rd grade through high school that emphasizes advanced training and year-round local and regional tournaments. Tryouts are required for all new and returning players for the 2026 Spring/Summer Girls program (3rd–12th Grade) and Boys program (2nd–12th Grade).

Flash Basketball states that it is dedicated to unlocking a player’s potential by emphasizing skill development, player development, and basketball IQ through intentional teaching and a focus on progress over performance, and it prepares players for success on and off the court while fostering a love for the game. The organization describes itself as a grassroots program from Portland and notes that community support has helped make Flash League a recreational basketball experience that sells out every year.
