MJCC Youth Programs and Camps include afterschool programs, Summer Day Camp, and Vacation Day Camp, along with activities such as basketball, soccer, gym hockey, racquetball, indoor rock climbing, and an Indoor Playground. Founded in 1914, the organization that runs MJCC Youth Programs and Camps has offered camping programs since 1921 and started its day camp program in 1947. Its mission states that it is an inclusive and welcoming hub for a diverse community, fostering lifelong wellness and providing dynamic social and educational experiences grounded in Jewish values and culture. The center has been part of the greater Portland community for over 100 years and serves all families without regard to religion, background, or ability to pay, and is a beneficiary of the Jewish Federation of Greater Portland. Leadership includes Executive Director Steve Albert, Chief Financial Officer Beth Germain, Assistant Executive Director Jenny Robinett, Human Resource Director Miriam Stroud, Marketing + Creative Director Becky Ewer, and Development Events + Community Programs Manager Bess Butterworth.
MJCC offers more than 55 group fitness and aquatics exercise classes each week, an Indoor Playground space for ages 0–5 years, and drop-in childcare with an option for unlimited childcare for members, with a maximum stay of two hours per session. The program uses make-your-own-combination lockers, and its staff are guided by stated Pillars of Behavior such as Welcome Everyone, Help or Assist, Teamwork, Build Community, Serve with Spirit, and Have Fun. The center was selected as the 2025 PDX Parent Winner for Favorite Family-Friendly Fitness and notes a history of Portland Trailblazers practices in its gymnasium before the team had its own facility.
