Hollywood Dance

Hollywood Dance offers classes in Pre-Ballet & Tap Combo, Ballet, Pointe, Jazz, Hip Hop, and Contemporary. The Small Steps: Pre-Ballet & Tap Combo class introduces simple dance steps and movements with the feeling of ballet and tap while protecting young muscles, bones, and joints. Contemporary classes require previous Ballet or Jazz experience and concurrent enrollment in Ballet or Jazz, and Hip Hop classes use a fusion of dance styles set to age-appropriate hip hop, R&B, and pop music, focusing on basic rhythm and coordination and combining broken-down steps into energetic routines.

Hollywood Dance has been a fixture in the NE Portland Hollywood neighborhood for over 30 years. The studio is non-competitive and family-oriented, offers classes for ages 3 years and up, and provides lessons for recreational dancers as well as pre-professional training for those wishing to pursue a career in the arts. As a smaller studio, Hollywood Dance remains committed to providing personalized attention and states that it is about its students, not its numbers, and that when someone becomes part of the studio, they become part of the studio’s family. Classes, curriculum, performances, and costumes are family-friendly and always age-appropriate, and the studio is dedicated to creating an atmosphere where people of all ages and levels can find joy through the dance experience. Enrollment is currently closed for new students, all enrollment is handled through the Parent Portal, and all class positions are on a first come, first served basis. The leadership team includes Joni, Owner/Director for Ballet and Pointe, and Rachel, Artistic Director for Hip Hop and Jazz.
