About

OMSI Camps and Classes includes summer day camps, overnight camps, birthday parties, submarine tours, planetarium shows, hands-on learning activities, and science labs. The program also connects families with special events such as the Sci-Fi Film Festival in the Empirical Theater and Family Camp – Labor Day.

• Ages: 3–18 years old
• Schedule: OMSI First Sunday takes place on the first Sunday of each month; the 2026 Sci-Fi Film Festival runs from April 10 to May 19, 2026, with an opening night screening of The Matrix at 6 pm and 9 pm on Friday, April 10, and additional dated showtimes throughout the festival period; Family Camp – Labor Day runs from Friday, September 4, 2026, at 4 pm through Monday, September 7, 2026, at 12 pm.
• Price: Sci-Fi Film Festival tickets cost $9 for non-member adults ages 14–62, $8 for non-member seniors ages 63 and up, and $7 for non-member youth ages 3–13; OMSI members receive 50% off admission; Festival Pass + Parking Pass costs $110 for non-member adults and seniors and $90 for OMSI member adults and seniors; Festival Pass costs $95 for non-member adults and seniors and $85 for youth, and $75 for OMSI member adults and seniors and $65 for youth.

OMSI Camps and Classes uses the Empirical Theater, which has a giant four-story screen and is described as the biggest screen in Portland, and the theater is wheelchair accessible. OMSI summer camp programs take place across multiple sites, including a museum, a zoo, an elementary school, a coastal camp called Camp Gray, and the Hancock Field Station in the desert. OMSI provides an online learning hub with digital learning modules for STEAM topics and offers OMSI for All, which focuses on inclusive access, accessibility, and financial access and discounts.

The organization’s mission states that the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry inspires curiosity through engaging science learning experiences and is committed to being an accessible, multicultural, and anti-racist organization where everyone feels a sense of belonging, with a belief that collective potential can be unlocked when curiosity, learning, and community unite. OMSI donates museum passes on a limited basis to local education or youth and family organizations and spreads STEAM education across the Northwest through its museum, desert and coastal camps, and online learning hub.
