Oregon Ballet Theatre School focuses on ballet and dance training for students. The program is the official training ground of Oregon Ballet Theatre, and students train with world-renowned instructors. Students at Oregon Ballet Theatre School have the chance to perform with Oregon Ballet Theatre Company dancers.

Since 1989, Oregon Ballet Theatre has been a cornerstone of creativity, passion, and community in Oregon, and OBT School has served as a pillar of ballet education in the Pacific Northwest for more than 35 years. OBT School is founded on the principles of excellence, inclusivity, and sensitivity, and trains tomorrow’s artists through a holistic approach that honors both tradition and innovation. Oregon Ballet Theatre seeks to inspire the dancer in all through the power of movement and is dedicated to fostering an enduring appreciation for dance through performance, training, and community programs. The organization is led artistically by Artistic Director Dani Rowe, with Dominic Walsh serving as OBT2 Director and mentoring aspiring dancers in the pre-professional division alongside artistic staff and renowned guest instructors. In 2024, OBT School awarded 33 scholarships totaling $90,000 to talented students, and OBT is committed to developing the next generation of dancers through its pre-professional division, OBT2, and its Trainee Program. OBT serves as a cultural wellspring for Portland and the Pacific Northwest region, supporting artists, dancers, students, and audiences through a shared focus on ballet and dance, with continued work made possible by support from individuals, corporations, government agencies, and foundations.
OBT Company Artist Juliette Ochoa was named one of Dance Magazine’s “25 to Watch in 2026.” Performance locations for Oregon Ballet Theatre vary by production and include The Keller Auditorium, Newmark Theatre, and Patricia Reser Center for the Arts. Reviews of OBT’s work include comments such as “Quirky, wacky, and loads of fun” from the Chicago Sun Times, “Flash and energy” from The Oregonian, and “Thrilling” from the San Francisco Examiner. OBT2 Director Dominic Walsh has noted that the enthusiasm of audiences shows how much these performances mean to the community.
