About
Oregon Ballet Theatre School Summer Programs include training in ballet technique, men’s technique, pointe, variations, repertory, character, modern/contemporary, Pilates, yoga, strength training, and conditioning. Students also take classes and seminars in makeup, health, mental strength and nutrition, dance history, ballet repertory, pre-pointe, pirouettes, stage acting, Irish step, jazz, flamenco, hip hop, contemporary dance, and improvisation. Some sessions include Nutcracker preparation as part of the curriculum.

• Schedule: Summer Senior Intensive offers 6-week, 4-week, and 2-week sessions; Summer Junior Intensive offers three separate one-week sessions as a full-day program from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
• Price: 2026 Summer Senior Intensive tuition is $3,530.00 for the 6-week session, $2,378.32 for the 4-week session, and $1,226.66 for the 2-week session; housing costs (from 2025) are $4,015.50 for 6 weeks, $2,695.00 for 4 weeks, and $1,376.00 for 2 weeks; Summer Junior Intensive tuition is $626 per week.
The Summer Senior Intensive is a full-day program for students ages 12 and older and is offered by audition only. The Summer Junior Intensive is for young dancers ages 8 to 15 who want to immerse themselves in dance and take their ballet training to the next level. Students ages 12 and older who require housing are placed in fully chaperoned dormitories, with room and board that includes triple key security for building entry, elevator, and room, uniformed 24-hour campus security, experienced Oregon Ballet Theatre School Resident Assistants on duty at all times, air-conditioned rooms, wireless internet access, and provided twin beds, mattress, sheets, pillows, blankets, and towels. Breakfast and dinner are provided daily for housed students, who must bring their own lunches, and common areas are cleaned by custodial staff; housing also includes a TriMet transportation pass and weekend excursions.
Housing is separate from Summer Intensive registration, and demand may exceed available space, with reservations made on a first-come basis. To reserve a place in the residence hall, families must pay in full or submit a non-refundable advance deposit of one-quarter of the total housing price online through MINDBODY, with the deposit due two weeks after notification of acceptance to the Summer Intensive. Students housed in the residence hall are provided basic linens and must bring personal supplies such as soap, shampoo, and laundry detergent.
Oregon Ballet Theatre School makes annual, need-based financial aid available through TADS, and a limited number of financial and merit scholarships are offered. All students accepted through in-person or video audition receive TADS financial aid scholarship application information in their acceptance notice, TADS applications for the 2026 Senior Summer Intensive are due February 9, and scholarship decisions are sent March 3. Students new to Oregon Ballet Theatre School are placed in a training track by faculty on the first day of classes based on assessment, while current Oregon Ballet Theatre School students register based on their current level.
Admission to OBT2 or the trainee program is by invitation after a successful audition. Dancers who want to be considered for OBT2 must attend at least the first four weeks of the 2023 Summer Intensive, with six weeks recommended, and admission to OBT2 is based solely on invitation from the Artistic Director and School Director. OBT2 marked its first official year in the 2016/17 season.
The Oregon Ballet Theatre School leadership team includes School Director Katarina Svetlova; OBT Artistic Director Dani Rowe; OBT Executive Rehearsal Director Lisa Kipp; OBT2 Program Director Dominic Walsh; and principal faculty members Grace Shibley (also OBT2 Rehearsal Assistant), Elise Legere, Jason Davis, Joseph Wyatt (also founding School Director), Eva Burton (also Company Principal Dancer), Leonora Lima, Lauren Flower (also OBT Company Dancer and choreographer), Charlotte Nash (also OBT Company Dancer), and Bailey Shaw (also OBT Soloist Dancer). Additional faculty and staff include Composition & Improvisation Faculty Melissa St. Clair, Modern & Limón Faculty Josie Moseley, hip-hop instructor Jeff George, curriculum consultant and faculty member Kate Robbins, flamenco instructors Nela Mcquire and Brenna McDonald, wellness coach Lauren Reins, and registered dietitian Lucy Wild, MS, LDN. School Director Katarina Svetlova received classical ballet training from Haydee Gutierrez in Miami and at Oregon Ballet Theatre School, studied at the John Cranko School in Stuttgart and the Princess Grace Academy in Monte Carlo, began her professional career at age 15, danced as a principal with Oregon Ballet Theatre from 1995 to 2002 in works by James Canfield, Peter Martins, Trey McIntyre, and Sarah Slipper, and was a principal dancer with Deutsche Oper Am Rhein Ballett from 2002 to 2007.
