The Portland Ballet Youth Programs include year-round Curriculum Program ballet technique training, daily Open Ballet drop-in classes, and Dance for Joy Creative Movement and Pre-Ballet classes. The programs also include a Hip Hop Class, Adult Beginning Ballet, an Adult Ballet Intensive, a Community Class created for all ages, abilities, and bodies, and a Community Class by Dance for Parkinson’s. Dance For Joy Teacher Training Workshop is also offered as part of the program.

• Schedule: Year-round ballet training with additional options including Dance For Joy Teacher Training Workshop August 6–9, Hip Hop Class on Thursdays from 7:00–8:00 pm for the 2025–26 season, Dance for Joy on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday mornings, Adult Ballet Intensive August 31–September 4 from 6:00–8:15 pm, Adult Beginning Ballet rolling eight-week Sunday sessions, Community Class by Dance for Parkinson’s on Monday mornings from 10:15–11:00 am, and Open Ballet daily drop-in classes in the morning.
The Portland Ballet was founded in 2001 and is celebrating 25 years. The Curriculum Program provides dancers ages 6–18 with a strong technical foundation and prepares them for a career in dance, and the Career Track Program is relaunching for the 2026–27 season. Dance for Joy is a two-level program created by Allegra Lillard, with Creative Movement for ages 3–4 that includes parent observation and Pre-Ballet for ages 5–6, and it offers a free trial class. Dance for Joy teacher training includes hands-on experience with students and direct mentorship from Allegra Lillard. The Community Class by Dance for Parkinson’s includes a first portion done seated in a chair, and dancers may choose to remain seated or stand for the second portion. Open Ballet offers daily drop-in classes in-studio and on Zoom, with student and professional rates, and new TPB merchandise is available to celebrate 25 years.
Artistic Director Nancy Davis and Executive Director Jim Lane trained at the School of American Ballet and had professional careers in companies throughout the U.S., retiring as principal dancers of the Los Angeles Ballet.
