• Schedule: Eight week-long sessions of residential summer camp

Since 1933, Mt. Hood Kiwanis Camp has partnered with the US Forest Service to empower children and adults with disabilities through overnight, outdoor, recreational programming. The camp was founded in 1933, has offered outdoor recreational programming for over 85 years, and celebrated its 75th anniversary in 2009. In 1972, the camp began a partnership with Portland State University that continues to this day, and it has also been sponsored or supported by groups such as the Portland Parks Bureau, the Portland Kiwanis Club, and the NE Portland Kiwanis Club. The program is re-accredited by the American Camp Association as of 2009. Additional offerings have included Camp-In-A-Box activity packages mailed to campers, hands-free upgrades to all bathrooms, and the Fanning Sensory Reduction Project. One camper described the experience by saying, “At Camp, I can fly!”
