Since 1991, the C.A.S.T. for Kids Foundation's mission statement is "Enriching the lives of children with special needs through fishing. Impacting lives through fishing." The organization hosts annual fishing and boating events across America to provide children with special needs a quality outdoor recreational experience. Volunteers, parents, participants, and communities across the nation are brought together through these events. A parent of a participant at Folsom Lake said, "The best moment was when my child received a plaque at the awards ceremony. My son will probably never get an award for playing a sport. So now he has his very own award."
