About

Camp Yakety Yak is a day camp that includes creative activities, games, and social experiences. The camp welcomes youth experiencing physical, intellectual, and developmental disabilities including ADHD and Autism, along with their typically developing siblings and friends who join in the same activities. Camp Yakety Yak also runs a social skills based Workplace Apprenticeship program for young adults.

• Ages: 5–18 years old
• Schedule: Weekly day camp sessions in July, with each session running one week
• Price: Camp Yakety Yak offers need based scholarships up to $500 for one week of camp tuition per youth. There is a $100 registration fee for each camp session, and a $100 weekly tuition deposit is due at the time of registration.

Graduate students of speech-language pathology and occupational therapy, undergraduate students, and trained high school volunteers work alongside licensed professional staff. The camp describes its community as joy-filled and welcoming, with a focus on youth exploring their strengths, building friendships, and growing socially and emotionally in an environment supported by professional staff. Camp Yakety Yak is also a teaching camp that prepares the next generation of educators and therapeutic professionals. Siblings and friends participate in camp alongside youth experiencing disabilities, and guardians are invited to take part in a Caregiver Connections group offered every Monday during camp right after drop off. The program notes community involvement with Building Blocks 4 Kids.
