About
Metro Gymnastics Center offers supervised gym rotations where children can play on the swings, in the pits, on the inflatable, and on the trampolines. The program includes instruction on gymnastics events such as bars, beam, floor, vault, and rings, along with arts, crafts, educational activities, games, and room time. Metro Gymnastics Center also offers birthday parties, summer camps, Mini-Nationals, and skill clinics, with children divided into groups based on age and skill level and activities split between the gym and the camp/art room.
• Schedule: Camp time runs from 8:45–3:00 on enrolled days, with drop-off no earlier than 8:35, and extended care available from 8:00–8:45 or 3:00–4:00 when scheduled in advance. Office hours are Monday 2:00–7:30, Tuesday–Thursday 9:45–7:30, and Saturday 9:00–12:15, with no Friday office hours and closure for Spring Break from 3/22–3/28.
• Price: Water bottles are available for purchase for $1 each, and camp cancellations made at least one week before the camp start date receive a full credit of the camp fee applied to the Metro account with no refund, with no credits or make-ups for missed camp days, no refunds given, and fees for extended care varying by AM or PM.
Metro Gymnastics Center was founded in March 1990 and has grown from an 11,000 square foot facility to a 21,000 square foot facility. Metro Gymnastics Center has been serving the Tigard, Oregon community since 1990 and offers a wide variety of gymnastics classes, team gymnastics programs, the Metro Dance Academy, preschool programs, and dozens of events and activities including birthday parties, summer camps, Mini-Nationals, and skill clinics. The stated mission is to provide a fun, positive, and self-esteem building environment for all children and adults in its programs by teaching children that they have self-worth, keeping children safe and healthy, helping children to love to learn, and helping children to learn physical skills.
All Metro staff are required to be certified in First Aid/CPR, Safe Sport, and Heads Up Concussion, and all staff are registered with the NCSI Background Check program. The leadership team includes David Klein as President of Metro Gymnastics Center; Annette McIsaac as Office Manager and contact for birthday parties and Mini Movers information; Autumn Stone as Girls Recreational Gymnastics Director; Sara Halverson as Girls Team Head Coach and Team Director; Lucas Myers as Boys Team Head Coach; and Stephanie Morris as Metro Dance Academy Director. Metro Gymnastics Center has been designated a Gold Medal Children’s Activity Center by Character Counts!, and David Klein received the Frank Cumiskey Award, the highest honor for USA Gymnastics volunteers, in 2019.
Camp participants are asked to wear clothes for gymnastics or active play, with leotards or tuck-in tops and shorts/leggings for girls and tuck-in t-shirts with shorts for boys, and all long hair must be tied back. Parents supply snacks and lunches, with one snack for half-day camps, two snacks for full-day camps, and lunches from home for all-day camps, and each child brings a labeled backpack that holds all items and a labeled water bottle, or may purchase a water bottle for $1. All camp participants must be potty trained, younger children are asked to bring a change of clothes, and all students leave shoes and socks in cubbies before entering the gym, with instructions not to bring money, toys, or jewelry. Drive-thru drop-off and pick-up are available at the back of the building, where a teacher escorts each child.
