Over the past 15 years, more than 2000 students have taken part in programs at Oregon Music Academy. The academy states that its mission is to help children learn, love, and succeed with music for a lifetime, with music lessons and group classes built on over 15 years of experience and the latest best practices in music pedagogy. It describes an emphasis on fun, friends, structure, flexibility, and progress, along with economical group music classes and large ensemble music experiences.

Oregon Music Academy describes its staff as highly trained musicians and educators who are selected through a multi-step audition and interview process that reviews playing skills, teaching methods, musical knowledge, character, professionalism, and commitment to excellence in teaching music. Teachers are reviewed from among hundreds of applicants, are certified through a process that goes beyond a background check, and receive ongoing training and mentoring from a team of lead teachers. Renee and Melody are mentioned by parents in testimonials, and the academy is described as a caring, patient, professional, and enthusiastic music instruction environment.

The academy states that it is considered the top leading community music school in the Portland Metro area and serves students from Tigard, Beaverton, Portland, Sherwood, Tualatin, Lake Oswego, and surrounding areas. It also states a belief that music builds life-long skills and values such as self discipline, self esteem, team work, cultural understanding, citizenship, and communication.

Parent testimonials describe staff and teachers, including Renee and Melody, as amazing to work with, very patient, and well trained in both music and teaching. Parents report that their children have developed skills while having fun, enjoy bringing “outside” songs in addition to the curriculum, and experience recitals and a Friday Night Jam Session. Testimonials also mention that lessons have become a positive part of a child’s education, that one child has gained confidence and practices at home, and that families feel invited and part of a family-like environment where kids get to know teachers and staff and enjoy a philosophy focused on having fun with music and learning to love it.
