Maddox Dance Studio was established in 1949 by Studio Owner/Director Jeanne Maddox Peterson and presents its 75th year of dance education on the North Coast as The North Coast's Dance Center Since 1949. The ballet syllabus is influenced by The American Academy of Ballet, Cecchetti, and Vaganova syllabuses. The studio is home to Little Ballet Theatre Inc., a non-profit foundation with five levels: Pre-Aspirant, Aspirant, Apprentice, Junior, and Senior.

Maddox Dance Studio states that it is committed to each student’s success in a caring, safe environment that is free of discrimination and judging, and that it is proud of students working together in classes and performances. The studio describes its expectations that students are respectful of their teachers and each other, act with kindness for all, respect the feelings of class members, and serve as role models and mentors to younger dancers, and it states that it wants every student to feel secure and learn the art of dance as an experience that will last a lifetime. The studio will continue to follow the CDC, the OHA, and local school district policies on precautions for the health and safety of students.

The Nutcracker production has been featured nationally by NBC’s Today Show and has been invited to perform in Pendleton with the Oregon East Symphony. The Nutcracker includes professional guest artists, over 100 local dancers, nearly as many volunteer staff, and a professional 50-piece orchestra, and it has three traditional holiday performances that are described as the jewel of North Coast holiday events. The Young Choreographers Concert begins with an adjudication of students’ original works by a panel of dancers and teachers from outside the area. Qualified students appear in an Annual Tap Festival, and the Tap Showcase is described as a salute to the tradition of tap dance and a tribute to National Dance Week, traditionally concluding with a group number, The Shim-Sham.

Dancers from Maddox Dance Studio are joined by tap dancers from other studios throughout the Northwest, and their numbers may also be performed throughout the spring season in various community shows as opportunities become available. Adult classes in ballet, tap, and jazz are described as being for the absolute beginner adult who has always wanted to dance and for former dancers who want to get back into class.
