Youth Work Experience is described as the foundation of Yamhill Carlton Together Cares summer programs and as crucial to the strength and success of other programs and the charitable works of the community. Youth Work Experience is also described as arguably the most unique program in Oregon for youth 13–17 years old, offering employment opportunities for youth to actively engage with their community in a variety of ways. New Adventure Summer Camps are described as providing a traditional day camp experience that combines fun and games with hands-on learning, and each camp explores a different topic to expand learning and fuel curiosity.
Summer Tiger Academy is open from 7:30am to 5:30pm Monday through Friday, runs throughout the entire summer, and has a small break the last week of August before school begins, with the 4th of July off. Yamhill Carlton Together Cares, Inc. was founded in 1998, and a two-town planning committee formed in spring 2013 led to a merger approved in June 2014 between CTC, YCRC (Yamhelas Community Resource Center), and Yamhill Carlton Athletic Teams (YCATS), with Yamhill-Carlton Together Cares formed on July 1, 2014.
The mission of Yamhill Carlton Together Cares is “Creating opportunities to empower and strengthen our community.” Youth Work Experience connects workers with adults and businesses in their community and gives them the chance to serve as role models for their peers and younger youth. Yamhill Carlton Together Cares develops programs for youth and families in the Carlton and Yamhill area, and grants, donations, and fundraising are described as critically important because no tax dollars are used for these local services. The organization notes that the success of Yamhill Carlton Together Cares starts with efforts by local citizens and that its volunteer base remains its strength. The Internal Revenue Service recognizes Yamhill Carlton Together Cares as a Section 501(c)(3) public charity.
