The Butler County Family YMCA states that its mission is to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all. It has been listening and responding to its communities for nearly 160 years. The YMCA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
The association identifies as a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit social services organization dedicated to youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility, and it hosts special events throughout the year that benefit its Annual Support Campaign. With the help of donors, it provides more than 350 families and youth with discounted or free memberships and programs, and it states that all money raised goes directly back to community members. The association leadership team includes roles such as President and CEO, Finance Director, Park Property Director, Human Resources Director, Marketing & Development Director, Membership Director, and program-specific directors and coordinators, along with executive and program directors at the Butler YMCA and Rose E. Schneider Family YMCA.
The program notes that sports offerings vary by location. Little Champs programs state a focus on fundamental skill development, self-esteem, fair play, and physical fitness, while youth sports programs state a focus on more defined skill sets within each sport, sportsmanship, teamwork, and skill development. The Get Fit Families Youth Triathlon Program is open to youth ages 6 to 12 who would like to participate in multi-sport training. Martial arts programs state that they instill core values such as integrity, concentration, self-control, perseverance, and leadership, and gymnastics is described as being for children of all abilities in a safe and supportive environment. Adult leagues are offered for adults to unwind, meet new people, and compete in friendly games.
Pickleball opportunities include beginner clinics, leagues, and open play, and participants can reserve open-play pickleball through a mobile app at one branch or by visiting the front desk at specified branches. Membership includes more than 170 weekly group exercise classes on land and in the water, and child watch is available while a parent or guardian works out. Members receive exclusive membership discounts, including 50% off programs and free events.
