About
YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh Summer Day Camps offers a wide variety of activities, including swimming, arts and crafts, outdoor adventures, sports, team-building games, STEM, creative arts, performing arts, culinary skills, and nature exploration. Campers take part in themed experiences such as an escape room challenge, an Eye Spy Take-Home Mission, launching colorful explosions, The Great Goo Gauntlet, and taking home their own environment-friendly plant. Additional activities include creating popsicle stick Cars characters, dress as your favorite character day, a family movie-themed event, a light the path obstacle course, Everyone’s Birthday Celebration, high-flying straw rockets, creating a vibrant handprint macaw, a penguin waddle relay, a nature walk and hunt, a kindness carnival, designing their own Terrible Towel, dress like your favorite Pittsburgh or local sports team day, Chalk Galaxy Art, the don’t drop the asteroid challenge, crafting mini torches, and a torch relay.
• Schedule: Weekly themed sessions in 2026 run June 8–12, June 15–19, June 22–26, June 29–July 3, July 6–10, July 13–17, July 20–24, and July 27–31.
The program includes traditional Summer Day Camp options, Discovery Camps for deeper exploration of interests, and an overnight camp at YMCA Camp Kon-O-Kwee Spencer. Weekly themes for 2026 include Detectives on the Case, Messy Science Madness, Lights, camera ... Summer!, Celebration Spectacular, Wild Animal Adventures, Pride of Pittsburgh, Galactic Adventures, and Olympic Spirit. The camps are rooted in the YMCA’s core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility, and financial assistance is available. The YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh states that when school is out, its Summer Day Camps keep kids active, engaged, and learning all summer long, supported by caring, trained staff in a safe and supportive environment where children can explore, create, and grow with a focus on building confidence, discovering new passions, and learning life skills.
