YMCA Camp Kon-O-Kwee Spencer offers activities such as splashing in the pool, hiking through the woods, campfire songs, and silly games. Campers also take part in environmental studies, nature walks, and wildlife observation as part of the program’s offerings.

YMCA Camp Kon-O-Kwee Spencer is part of the YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh and offers Summer Overnight Camp for Kids, Outdoor Environmental Education, Family and Parent-Child Programs, and Retreats and Group Programs in a natural setting. Juna (boys) and Gena (girls) campers, ages 7–9, participate in camp in a safe, supportive, and fun environment. The camp integrates the YMCA’s four core values of honesty, caring, respect, and responsibility, as well as a special Tremendous Ten, into all camp programs, and its programs are also centered on the core values of caring, honesty, respect, responsibility, and faith. The camp’s goal is to provide a summer camp experience rich in tradition while allowing campers to gain independence, higher self-worth, and lifelong, positive memories, and it sets clear, measurable goals to support a safe, meaningful, and impactful experience for each camper.
YMCA Camp Kon-O-Kwee Spencer has been providing transformative camp experiences for children, families, and communities for more than 90 years and is turning 100 in 2026. It is described as a cornerstone of the YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh’s mission, helping to grow kids, build leaders, and strengthen communities. The camp’s mission is aligned with the YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh, which is “to promote Christian principles through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind, and body—for all.” The Outdoor Education program offers students an unforgettable learning experience in a beautiful natural setting.
The leadership team includes Mike “Mack” McElhinney as Executive Director, Tim Shank as Property Director, Jim Surrena as Maintenance Supervisor, and Rob Coyne as Food Service General Manager.
